Registered Member, Association for Family Therapy (AFT)
Qualified Systemic Supervisor | Training in Non‑Violent Resistance (NVR)
Former Registered Learning Disability Nurse
Annette qualified in 2007 as a Family & Systemic Psychotherapist. She brings over 30 years of experience across hospital and community settings in mental health and learning disability services. Most recently, she worked as a Systemic Psychotherapist in an NHS CAMHS inpatient hospital before retiring from the NHS to offer independent practice.
People describe Annette as calm, friendly and down‑to‑earth. She listens carefully, without judgement or blame, and ensures every family member has a voice. From the outset, she is transparent about goals/expectations, invites feedback, and adapts flexibly to what works for you. Annette is thoughtful about power dynamics, diversity and inequalities and uses creative approaches (talking, play, drawing and writing) to make therapy engaging and accessible.
“I believe strongly in enabling all family members to have a voice and to facilitate communication that suits each person’s needs.” — Annette Howes
